What’s worth seeing in and around Gols
Gols is an ideal starting point for discovering the unique cultural landscape of northern Burgenland, as well as for exploring the numerous sights in the surrounding area. The star of the region is, without hesitation, Neusiedl Lake. Sailors, surfers and kite enthusiasts treasure this Eldorado of water sports; likewise, sun lovers enjoy the warming rays in the open air swimming pools; bike riders, joggers and Nordic walkers keep themselves fit over the well developed network of bike and hiking trails around the steppe lake. In winter, the lake offers a unique experience of freedom as the biggest ice skating rink in central Europe. But also botanists and birdwatchers come to the National Park Neusiedl Lake – Seewinkel and get all what they crave for.
Those looking for wellness and relaxation take pleasure in the relaxing atmosphere of the new St. Martins thermal bath in Frauenkirchen. Not far from there you may experience the traditional village museum in Mönchhof, where the houses truly depict a bygone era.
Those interested in history can visit the nearby baroque castle in Halbturn, Esterhazy castle in the county capital Eisenstadt, and the impressive Forchtenstein castle ruin are also only a few kilometres away.
